Our Story
The Souris Valley Museum is a regional history Museum that focuses on the human development and daily life in Southeast Saskatchewan. The Museum opened its door to the public in September 2001 and since then has been serving the community through our exhibitions, programs, outreach and events. Starting in 2017 the Museum moved from a seasonal to year-round facility, allowing the Museum to expand on our programs, outreach and events for the community to attend.
Our Mandate
The Museum provides residents and visitors of Estevan an area with an engaging depiction of the social and cultural influences and economic development of Southeast Saskatchewan through the collection, preservation, interpretation and exhibition of artifacts, images, documents and stories of significance to the region.
Our Role in the Museum Community
The Souris Valley Museum functions in cooperation with and as a complement to existing museum facilities within the City of Estevan and surrounding communities. The Museum works with other museums and galleries of the region to offer unique exhibits and ensure that each cultural institution can maintain their intentions without conflict. The Museum will also collaborate with other institutions, whenever possible, to offer comprehensive programming and special events to the public.
