SOURIS VALLEY MUSEUM CAMP POLICY (please read before registering):
Souris Valley Museum Camp Policy:
By signing this agreement, you agree to the following:
*Your child must be of age of the camp in order to attend. We make lesson plans geared toward those specific ages and that is why we put age restrictions on camps. Thank you for understanding. *
*Souris Valley Museum is not responsible for lost or stolen items (personal belongings, toys, etc)*
Camp Behavior:
Staff members reserve the right to dismiss a student for reoccurring inappropriate or disruptive behavior. Behavior-related dismissals will not be refunded. Every child that attends Souris Valley Museum’s children’s camps will be adhered to the 3-strike policy. If your child gets three strikes in one day, the parent/guardian will be notified by phone for them to pick up said child immediately.
A ”strike” includes but is not limited to:
- Explicit name calling towards staff or other participants.
- Physical abuse towards staff or other participants.
- Discussion of inappropriate topics.
- Disobeying rules
- Swearing
- Destructive or damage to the supplies, furniture, or property of the Souris Valley Museum
Arrival/Pick-Up:
- Children should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the camp begins as there is no supervision before that time. Children should be picked up no later than 10 minutes after a program has ended. After 10 minutes, there will be an additional charge of $5 for every 5 minutes your child has not been picked up.
- If another person is picking up your child, you must let us know at drop off and give name of said person to the program coordinator/staff.
- Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at arrival and pick up times. Children should not walk into the building alone at arrival and children will not be sent out of the building alone at pick up. Children must be handed over to a staff member of the museum at arrival. Parents/guardians dropping off and picking up a child must sign child in and sign them out on the clipboard outside of the classroom.
Payment & Cancellation:
- Full payment is required at registration time. This secures your child’s spot for the program. One email will be sent out as a reminder to pay. If payment is not made within 48 hours (cash or etransfer payments), your child’s spot will be terminated.
- Occasionally, unforeseen circumstances or low program registrations require us to cancel a program. If this happens, we will notify you by email as soon as we can or within 24 hours of camp start time for low program registrations. You will receive a refund in the case of low participants or unforeseen circumstances (administrative fee doesn’t apply).
- If your child can no longer attend the program, you must notify the museum within 48 hours of the program’s start time to receive a refund. Notification within less than 48 hours or no shows will not receive a refund.
- Refunds available on request within 30 days after the camp ended and are subject to a 20% administrative fee. Credits can be kept on account for up to one year.
- There is no fee reduction if a participant misses a day, arrives late or leaves early.
Waitlist Rules:
- Waitlists are honored first. Waitlists are a first come, first served basis. We ask if your child can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can fill that spot for another child to enjoy that camp!
Medication, Allergies, and Illnesses:
- Museum staff are not permitted to accept or administer medication. If there is an emergency, 911 will be called, followed by the parent.
- Parents should advise museum staff of disabilities your child has including medical, mental, or physical disabilities.
- Children of all abilities are welcome to participate in our camps/programs. The Souris Valley Museum does not provide 1:1 supervision for participants. Please use your own discretion if a museum program is fit for your child to attend independently. However, a parent or guardian can attend with your child at no extra charge. You must email the program coordinator about the chaperone before attending said program.
Harassment:
- The Souris Valley Museum has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment towards staff and board members. Harassment is defined as any inappropriate conduct, comment, action, or gesture and may result in a dismissal from the Souris Valley Museum.
